Massage therapy is a form of treatment that works with the structures of the body to reduce pain and improve function.

By applying pressure, stretching, and manipulating muscles, ligaments, and joints in different ways, therapeutic massage therapists restore movement in tight or injured areas.

They also eliminate scarring and adhesions that can build up in soft tissues, open up those areas to promote more effective blood flow, break up old scar tissue, trigger the body’s natural relaxation response so pain is reduced or eliminated, and increase joint range of motion, resulting in less stiffness and more flexibility.

Reviews

"I have seen both Dr. Mike Belding (chiro) as well as Neo (massage) and cannot say enough good things about both of them. Dr. Belding is the only one I trust with my chiro needs and Neo gives the BEST massage I have ever had (and I have had many)."

"I have been seeing Joel Pasloski for about a year now. I'm super picky about my massages. I have been to dozens of RMT's and disappointed most of the time. I was told about Joel and thought I would give it a go. To my amazement Joel was kind, sweet, knowledgeable, dedicated, professional with a great sense of humor and easy to talk to. I feel 150% comfortable with him and trust his recommendations. Joel truly cares about your well being and comfort levels. He makes a plan for you to feel better and gets you there. Joel has strong, fantastic hands and is able to manipulate your sore spots. Now don't get me wrong, I sometimes I dislike the pain but after I feel like I am 20 years old again and can do cart wheels I feel so good. I'm 50! Passionate about his job and highly recommend Joel for all your feel great massage needs. Thanks Joel Thanks Encompass for having such a gold nugget on your team."

"Started coming to this clinic after a car accident over 4 years ago. They are my go to for chiro, physio, AND massage. While I am sure every practitioner is amazing, my long time fave for physio is Stephanie (happy soon to be mat leave!!), Kate and Mike for chiro, and oh my goodness Lorae’s massages. Bliss! Covid safe and great front desk staff, too."

FAQs on Massage Therapy

There are tons of benefits of massage therapy. Massage therapy relaxes muscles and improves circulation, reduces stress and tension, improves sleep, boosts your immune system, calms anxiety and depression, improves your posture and balance, releases toxins from the body effectively detoxifying your body, and relieves pain due to arthritis or many other injuries.

During your first appointment, your therapist will take a detailed case history, including overall health status, nature of symptoms, and any treatment that you have previously received. The therapist can then determine if you have any physical condition that would be affected by massage therapy (e.g., high blood pressure). Your current lifestyle is also taken into consideration as nutrition and stress can affect the body’s ability to heal itself. Once your intake is complete the therapist may discuss what you hope to gain from massage therapy.

Your massage therapist will ask your informed consent before proceeding with treatment. Wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing, and keep in mind that massage therapists are trained in draping techniques and only undress the necessary amount to access the areas being worked on. Your personal privacy is always respected by our therapists.

Most extended health plans provide coverage for massage therapy treatments. If you’re unsure how much coverage you have, review your plan’s benefits statement or call your provider to get the information. We do direct billing to most of the major insurance providers and would be very happy to assist you in this process.

In most cases, a massage is quite comfortable and you should feel relaxed during and after. If a massage is painful or uncomfortable, you should immediately inform your therapist so that the pressure or technique can be adjusted. Our therapists use different types of massage techniques according to your needs such as relaxation massage, deep tissue massage, cupping, and Graston technique.

The number of sessions you need to have depends on the severity of your problem. If you are looking for a relaxing massage, you may only need one or two sessions. If you are looking for pain relief, it may take more than one session. Some people get massage therapy from professionals once or twice a week and others get it once or twice a month. The frequency of your sessions depends on what your needs are and what you want to achieve with the treatment.
